Today is January 2nd 2023. It’s a pretty cool day in that it’s the 53rd anniversary of my Bar Mitzvah. I’m not sure how much that matters to you. I’m not even sure how much that matters to me actually, but still, there are some people who don’t get to see the 53rd anniversary of anything, so it’s a good opportunity to understand how fortunate I am.
This day is also spectacularly special because it’s the 33rd anniversary of opening my own financial advisement practice. Thirty three years is a long time. So many things have changed. From working with mutual funds and working on commissions, to working more with ETF’s and having a fee based practice. From logging notes and filling out forms by hand, to logging and filling everything electronically. From storing all statements in huge four inch binders, to keeping everything digitally. Things have changed so much over the years.
But what has not changed, are the relationships and my intent.
Many of you, my clients, have been my clients for well over 20 - 25 years. You know I care very much about you personally. I care about your lives, your relationships, and your health. When we talk, the conversation, very often strays from the business at hand, to life in general. And I wouldn’t want it any other way. I hope you also understand while I care deeply about you personally, my priority always has to be the business at hand. That’s why I am in your life to begin with, and that’s what I focus on every day.
But having your own practice, and running your own business, takes a dominant amount of effort from one’s life. I attend to the business at hand more hours than I want to keep track of. When I’m on vacation or a business trip, I bring my laptop, because even though I always have backup, I know what I do for you is central to your lives and I want to be there for you, and for that.
Having any business really affects the quality of one’s life. It can’t be any other way. So much of a life is put into it. But that is also exactly why I’ve grown my practice the way I have…. with people I enjoy spending moments with, and want to have long term relationships with. With people that add to the quality of my life, and not take away from it.
If you’re a client of Financial Concepts Unlimited, LLC, you do just that, and I appreciate you more than you know or I can verbalize. I started this business to impact people’s lives in a positive way. I’ve been able to do that for a long time. What I did not expect was the richness and depth all you of would end up giving me at the same time. I built this business to be this way because I knew it would be an important part of my life. I didn’t however, expect the depth of what I’ve received in return.
So thank you all very much. I’m a very fortunate person to be involved with you and for you allowing me to do so. You…. all of you…. your relationships are important to me and I intend to do everything I can to justify them and do the best I can for you.
Again, I thank you all for 33 years of you. I am truly looking forward to many more.
